Dark Hedges, Stranocum Magical Reality Box

50x50x30cm, silks, inks, wood, mirrors, lens, LED lights.

Ancient beech trees form an vaulted archway over the road at Stranocum, County Antrim. This place has a timeless, mystical quality. It feels much older than its two hundred years. I knew it before I ever saw it - half remembered and imagined through the fairy tales and ancient stories I read as a child.

The exhibition includes this piece and two others that I was working on before I was invited to exhibit in Distant World, as these pieces became the starting point for the new work for the exhibition.

'You drive into a meaning made of trees
or not exactly trees.'
