When Wardrobes crunched with Snow
Magical Reality Box

When approaching this box from the distance only glimpses of tree trunks and snowy roots can be seen, but up close the miniature 'world' inside the box is revealed. The embroidery appears as a floating sphere and there is a passage through the trees leading into the world beyond.

This reminded me of the moment when Lucy finds the wood of the wardrobe has become tree trunks and there is snow under her feet. The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, Narnia books written by C S Lewis, born in Belfast.

So my work before the Distant World exhibition was exploring the search for other worlds that is very much a part of the Irish imagination and literature.
